Saint Patrick's Day

Green, I love you green! Saint Patrick's Day, the world's most famous Irish celebration, is here!

But who is that man, why is everyone wearing hats, where do leprechauns and shamrocks come from?

Saint Patrick's Day, the patron saint of Ireland, is celebrated on 17 March. What began as a religious celebration in commemoration of his death has become a popular and multitudinous celebration where the colour green, shamrocks and beers are a distinctive part of the festivities. According to legend, St. Patrick is the boss. Not only did he bring Christianity to the island, but he also made shamrock fashionable and rid Ireland of snakes.
